The Malta Tenpin Bowling Association will be organizing the upcoming 22nd Mediterranean Bowling Championships 2019 to be held in Malta next week, April 1st to 7th. The opening ceremony will be held on the 1st April at the Eden Super Bowl at 16:30, with the actual sporting events starting at 9:30 am on the 2nd April.

The Malta edition has attracted a record number of participants, with 16 countries, including those from other sporting giants like Italy, Spain, France, Greece and Turkey. The growth of these championships has been acknowledged by World Bowling, the international federation organising bowling worldwide. In fact, the president of World Bowling, Sheik Talal Mohammed Al Sabah, will be attending for the opening ceremony for the first time ever.

Malta will be represented by the same team from last year, namely Sue Abela, Sara Xuereb, Mauro Anastasi and Justin Caruana Scicluna. Justin will be defending his Gold medal from last year. Sue Abela is the only bowler to have participated in all 22 editions and she is also the bowler that has won most Gold medals in these championships.
