The Birkirkara coach Paul Zammit has asked the Birkirkara administration to register two new signings in the January transfer window. This was revealed earlier today in a press conference organized by Birkirkara FC in which details about a new sponsor for the club were given.

Club President Carm Galea said the club is at the moment being run on a semi-professional basis and therefore the sponsor of BetClic comes in a very crucial stage in the season. Addressing the media was also Mr. Michael Mifsud, representative of this betting company, who said that the company which is registered in Malta is proud to be associated with Birkirkara. Whilst giving details about BetClic, Mr. Mifsud said that his company sponsors poplar football clubs like Juventus FC, Olympique Lyon and Olympique Marseille amongst others.

Addressing the media was also Paul Zammit, the team’s coach who during a lengthy speech, made his intentions clear by stating that he wants two new players to be signed with immediate effect with  Birkirkara in a bid to challenge for local honours. When asked about the roles of these players, Zammit said that he asked the Birkirkara administration for two foreigners – one striker and the other a utility player. Closed sources to this site can confirm that Birkirkara may ultimately sign only one foreign player with the other being a local player. Zammit added that his team has been suffering strange injuries from the beginning of the season whereby players like Andew Decesare, Nikola Vukanac and Trevor Cilia have only played a few minutes. Notwithstanding this, the Birkirkara mastermind still thinks that his team will be in a position to register a championship pool berth and eventually challenge for the honours. Finally Zammit thanked the Birkirkara committee for improving the structure of the technical staff as this season Birkirkara’s team is being led on a semi-professional scheme with regular morning training sessions. It has been also revealed that Birkirkara have problems with the physical condition of Scottish defender Ryan Harding and Trevor Cilia who will both be missing Birkirkara’s match against Valletta this Saturday.

Sportinmalta.com is informed that Harding maybe released due to the fact that the player is suffering from a mysterious respiratory problem. If he will be released, it will be an amicable decision between both parties due to the genuine situation of the player.
